First of all, there are not enough instructors currently available for all the DISD schools who would like one, and, second, one of the main ideas behind DACIS is to help students from low-income families have an opportunity to develop critical thinking skills through playing chess and, as a result, improve their scholastic performance in general. So many students in DISD schools fall into this category, so this is where DACIS focuses its attention. The Dallas Chess Club Web site is a good place to find the names of instructors you might be interested in.
